About teen pregnancy in El Salvador

During the folk history of El Salvador it is well known that girls between the ages of 12-17 years get pregnant, sometimes live together with a man or become single mothers and then they have to work and raise their child or children at the same time. Only in year 2014, a research by the CONNA( onsejo Nacional de la Niñez y la Adolescencia) Found that 23,573 girls were pregnant and living with a man, married or in informal union because of pregnancy, this research specifies that the ages of these girls are between 12-17. This is alarming considering the population of the country. This situation is the result of the lack of education this people has. Since the majority of the country lives under the line of poverty, this people have the mentality that children will give them chances of getting out of their situation, although, sometimes pregnancy might also happen because of sexual abuse and the indaquate laws we have when it comes to abortion and birth control. This situation is without any doubt deplorable and shows what a lack of morality, culture and education our country has, from the goverment to the poorest ones, this country has a lot to change. No doubt we have this kind of situation as part of our folk history, lack of education explains it all.

Shocking Pulitzer prized picture

This picture called my attention because of the way it represents humanity. It does not only represent a part of human history but the cause of all wars: Intolerance, although there is another name for it: Fanatism. Fanatism is caused by ignorance and this pictre portrays fanatism at its finest.

I just want to clarify that since I don't know the story behind this picture, I can only make a judgement based on knowledge of previous events of human history and the feelings that I identified seeing this picture for the first time.

Human has always been a savage species who wants to take advantage of everything and everybody due their own selfish nature, human can not only be greedy to superficial things but also to intangible things. This can be knowledge, beliefs or ideas which they feel like the only truth( Being truth so complex, it cannot be limited an idea or belief, human is too ignorant yet to understand the truth) So they will try to push those ideas, beliefs, knowledge to their fellow humans, that is why we have fights over religion, politics or philosophy. This pictures represents how cruel man can become when they can't accept different ideas or beliefs. Intolerance is not wholly wrong, if you love babies you must be intolerant to abortion, if you love animales then you must be intolerant to animal cruelty. The problem is when humans are too selfish to understand that there are other points of view, other ways, other thoughts which might also be correct. When human are too greedy to understand this truth, that the world is not black and white but multicolored, human starts seeing their fellow men like a threat and they become insane, trying desperately to proof themselves right, they will do anything to proof they're right, it doesn't matter how many people they have to kill, how many half trues they have to tell, how many people they have to manipulate, they will do anything to proof they're right and the other fellow men wrong.

As a result, we have human killing other humans because they don't think the same. Absolutism is the most dangerous poison for human minds, because it gives them the idea that they have the absolute truth and that the rest are wrong and are a threat to them and their group. They feel like they are entitled to push their truth on others. As a result human becomes cruel and becomes the devil they see in their enemy.

 The feelings that I get seeing this picture are Sadness, anger, hatred, compassion for humans and hope to see humanity, someday, realizing how wrong we got Jesus, Buddha, Mahatma Ghandi, Marx, Socialism, Capitalism and many other great humans and thought systems whose goal was to achieve human unification and progress for the world but because of human greed, selfishness and fanatism, these thoughts became massive killing weapons.
